Answer: Turn Off Your System. If any of the lines are frosted or iced over, they will need to thaw before your system can be evaluated.

If your system isn't blowing out cool air, it is probably not your thermostat because your system is actually on and blowing out something.

However, there 2 main reasons your system isn't cooling:

  • Your filters need changing. This is the root cause of most system issues. Having a dirty filter equal having an entirely dirty system. Having a dirty system wreaks havoc across the board for an HVAC system. If left too long without a filter change your entire system will need a tune up.
  • You have a leak in your system causing the refrigerant to escape. A technician and identify where the leak is occurring and offer solutions to the problem.
  • Okay, there is a third reason.... your system is old and needs replacement. This is the worst case scenario.

You're going to need to contact us, so we can see what the issue is and how to remedy it.

Answer: We wish there was a straight forward answer to that question but there are many thermostats that are great for your home. Let's initially look at what you might be wanting:

  • Want something programable and with smart features? Maybe you want a smart thermostat that you can also control on your phone? If that's the case, then a Nexia or Nest Thermostat is the way to go! These thermostats provide apps and pair with Amazon and Google, along with programmable settings. They also have accessories that you can add to your home for even more smart features on other appliances and applications.
  • Want something more traditional? For a traditional thermostat, we'd recommend the Honeywell Thermostat models. Honeywell provides smart models as well, but if you want a standard thermostat without a ton of bells and whistles then this is our standard thermostat we recommend.

We provide commercial grade thermostats that aren't typically found in box stores, making the thermostats we install a higher quality purchase.

Answer: Let's look at some of the warning signs that your HVAC system might need replacement.

  • You seem to always be calling for service because of an issue with the system.
  • Your system is more than 10 years old.
  • You are noticing a lot more dust in your home.
  • Some of your rooms are not cooling or heating properly.

The best time to replace is when your system just doesn't perform to your expectations and is coupled with age. The newer HVAC systems today are more energy efficient, saving you money on your power bill over time. Newer systems are more durable and have better warranties (for whatever mother nature throws your way).

At Hospitality Heating and Air, we offer FREE System Estimates and can help you determine if the time is right for replacement.
